AQUARION GROUP (AQUARION AG) LAUNCHES S-TEC GmbH, OFFERING MODULAR SERVICES FOR PLANT DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION

BAAR, Switzerland, 22 December, 2014 – Aquarion Group (Aquarion AG), a leading provider of advanced water systems, solutions and technologies for the oil & gas industry, the energy sector and other process industries, follows its acquisition of S-Tec from SH+E Group with a re-launch of the company as an independent entity with a new and totally flexible capability for the design and manufacturing of water treatment plants and services.

Aquarion acquired the assets of S-Tec from SH+E Group earlier this year.  S-Tec GmbH is now a standalone company based in Germany that specializes in modular water treatment plant construction. Called ModufleX, S-Tec’s new business model separates all elements of work required for plant construction into separate, self-contained modules. Clients can source as many (or as few) of the modules as they wish from S-Tec GmbH.

This new business model has already proven successful. Within three months of being part of Aquarion, S-Tec GmbH returned to profitability and has built a strong order book. Plans are now being considered to expand its current, 2,250 square meter production facilities located near Dresden, Germany.

All 40 jobs at the company were preserved as part of the acquisition by Aquarion.

“S-Tec GmbH is poised for continued growth with its new and successful business model, strong financial position and highly skilled staff, which we are pleased to have retained,” said Karl Michael Millauer, Chief Executive Officer of Aquarion Group.

Modular Services for Plant Construction
The ModufleX concept comprises a total of 11 self-contained modules that can be provided individually or in groups, or combined to supply the total plant requirement. The individual modules range from engineering and software development to frame construction, coating, mechanical and electrical pre-assembly and functional testing, logistics, installation, commissioning and external quality assurance.

With ModufleX and extensive know-how in the design, prefabrication and commissioning of assemblies and pipeline assembly, S-Tec GmbH has broadened its base to now include the oil & gas industry, chemical and heavy industries, adding to its business in the semiconductor, microelectronics and solar sectors and customers in the paper, pharmaceutical, food and beverage sector. S-Tec complies with the requirements of EN ISO 9001, AD 2000 HP0 and WHG and therefore, meets all conditions necessary for international plant supply.

“With our ModufleX concept, the system designer can decide exactly which elements of the overall project design and production requirements he wishes to do in-house, and S-Tec will complete the remaining work. This can be done in a flexible way that can be changed if necessary. The client benefits from our in-depth expertise in all the design, development and production stages for both standard and special, one-off plants, as well as from our on-going service and maintenance support, and all this with great cost certainty,” said Reiner Hassmann, Operations Manager at S-Tec GmbH.
