AQUARION ANNOUNCES TWO ADDITIONS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

BAAR, Switzerland, 12 May, 2014 – Aquarion Group (Aquarion AG), a global water
treatment solutions provider, announces that Mark Hope and James W. Hotchkies have
been elected to its Board of Directors.

Directors. Mark has been involved in the oil and gas industry – one of our focus industries –
for nearly 30 years, while James is recognized globally as an expert in advanced water
treatment technologies and business strategies in the water sector. We believe their
industry-leading experience and insights will be important strategic assets for Aquarion as
we continue to grow,” said Karl M. Millauer, Chief Executive Officer of Aquarion Group.

Mark Hope is the principal and founder of Malta-based HopeVere Consulting Ltd, which
provides consultancy and advisory services to oil and gas, renewable, water and logistic
companies based in or operating in the Middle East, and North and East Africa. Prior to
founding HopeVere Consulting, he was Vice President and Country Manager for Shell Libya,
serving as a member of Shell’s leadership team for Gas & Power in Africa, and also was
Project Leader for Shell UK. Previously, he was Commercial Director/Acting CEO for Olakola
LNG (Nigeria), The Hague, NL and London, UK, where his achievements included setting up a
new $4 billion LNG project in London and Lagos.


Earlier in his career, he served as Project Manager, Baja LNG Regasification (Mexico),
London, and was Deputy Chairman & Managing Director at Fayum Gas Co., Cairo, Egypt. Mr.
Hope also serves as an advisor to the Board of Directors of Setanta Energy in London.

He holds BSc. & B.Com. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from the
University of Birmingham, and received a LLB. in English Law (including Company and
Commercial Law) from the University of London. He also completed the prestigious
International Executive Programme at INSEAD, France. Mr. Hope is a Certified Eur. Eng.
(FEANI, Brussels, Belgium) and a Certified Chartered Engineer (Institute of Materials,
Minerals & Mining, London). He also earned distinction as a Shell Certified “Drilling
Engineer”.


James Hotchkies possesses more than 25 years experience in the water industry. He is
Managing Director of JWH Consulting GmbH, a Swiss-based firm that provides advisory
support for a range of global clients. His expertise includes advanced technologies for water
treatment, wastewater reuse, water sustainability, biosolids management and resource
recovery, as well as developing strategic relationships and partnerships across the water
sector.

In addition, he is Managing Director of Ostara Europe GmbH and Head of International
Business Development for the Commercial Water Division of LG Electronics. He is also a
member of the Advisory Boards of the Pictet Water Fund, the world’s largest water sector
fund; Emefcy, a membrane-based wastewater technology firm; and ClearCove, a developer
of technology for wastewater treatment plants.

Prior to his current activities, Mr. Hotchkies held a number of senior management positions
in the water, environmental technology and steel sectors including Vice President – TMEu
and Global Business Development Advisor, UF and MBR Technologies, Toray Industries, Inc.
and Toray Membrane Europe AG; Senior Vice President – ZENON Membrane Solutions
EMEA, GE Water & Process Technologies; Senior Vice President – EMEA, Zenon
Environmental Inc.; President, PYXIS Systems Group; and Manager of Market Development
Engineering, The Algoma Steel Corporation. He was also Manager of the Sheridan
Environmental Technology Institute and Professor of Applied Arts & Technology at Sheridan
College.

Mr. Hotchkies holds B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees from McMaster University, Hamilton,
Ontario, Canada.
